Love Actually

Love is in the air and while you may not agree entirely with this list of romantic films this is what we consider to be in the romantic top five films.  Up first is ‘Love Actually’,  the 2003 holiday film starring Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Liam Neeson and Keira Knightley! Love Actually tops the list of romantic all time great romantic movies.

The Notebook

This 2004 romantic classic starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling is about a poor but passionate young man who falls in love with a wealthy young woman. Coming from different sides of the train tracks as it were the two lovers are soon separated due to their social differences and backgrounds.

In Notting Hill, Hugh Grant plays a simple bookshop owner, William Thacker, who falls madly in love with the most famous film star and actress in the world, Anna Scott (Roberts). Notting Hill is a romantic journey about how two people from widely different social backgrounds manage to overcome extreme social obstacles and the intrusive attention of the ever present global media.

The Animated Movie ‘Wall E’

Set in the distant future, this 2008 Pixar animated flick follows a trash collecting space robot who inadvertently embarks on a space journey that ultimately decides the fate of mankind. Trust us, it’s romantic in a quirky but animated kind of way. Perhaps many adults will not have seen this movie but actually Wall E is a thoughtful and amusing romantic film that is worth a viewing.
